Don't Open your door to repair men, housekeeping,
room service etc. If you someone clams to be from the hotel staff, then
call the front desk to verify this person is really from the hotel
staff.
Room Key
Make sure your room key doesn't have the room
number on the key.
Keep your hotel key in your bag or pocket, out of
site.
Don't leave your hotel key in the door.
Leave your key near your bed. In case of
an emergency, you might need your key to get back into your room and/or
to lock your room.
Hotel Doors and Windows
Bring with you a "rubber stopper" and put in under
the door, for extra protection.
Double lock the door to your hotel room.
Chain lock - twist the chain, so that there is no
slack on the chain.
Don't leave the door open when leaving the hotel
room even for a second.
Check sliding doors and connection doors make sure
they are locked securely.
Keep the door clocked with both locks. Don't open
the door for anyone, including hotel staff.

Location
Ask for a room near the elevator,
and not near the fire exit or stairwell.
Near the elevator there are a lot of people
coming and going, less chance of anything happening.
Near the fire exit or stairwell it is more likely
to get robbed, because there is an easy get away.
Don't take a room higher then the
6th floor. In case of a fire, some fire department don't have ladders
that reach higher then 6 floors.
Don't take on the ground floor,
thrives can easily jump into the hotel room.
Don't give anyone your room
number.
When the you receive
your key, tell the person at the desk to write down your room number,
and not to say your room number out load. You don't know who is listing.
