  Saving Time In The Kitchen

Here are some quick tips on saving time in the kitchen:

  1. Keeping your work area clean.

    • When preparing food keep the trash can open and near where you are working, or use a small trash can or a practice bag that you can put all your trash into without having to go to the big trash can.
    • Put all your dishes in the sink.
    • have a square pail/bucket that fits in the sink.
    • Fill it up with hot water and dish soap.
    • Let the dishes that you don't need soak in hot water and soap.
    • The dishes that you do need re-wash immediately.
  2. Take everything that you need out of the refrigerator at one time. Use a tray or a bowl to help you carry everything that you need.
  3. If you can try to prepare food near the sink, so it is easier to wash the dishes that you need to reuse.
  4. Keep something to clean up spills and messes near you.
  5. Take out all the other ingredients that you need and keep the ingredients near you.
  6. Crush garlic ahead of time and store it in the freezer.
  7. Cut up extra vegetables and store them in plastic containers, they are ready to use when you are running short on time.
  8. Grate cheese ahead of time and store in in the freezer.
  9. When you prepare muffins, cake or other types of bread/cakes double or triple the batch. Store the extra in the freezer. When you want to eat them just put them in the microwave.
  10. Pancake batter you can also make extra an freeze the rest. When you want to use just take it out and defrost it.
  11. Slow cookers are wonderful. Put all the ingedents in the slow cooker, and it will cook all day and night. When you are ready to eat just turn it off and your food is ready, and you will have an excellent hot meal ready to eat.
  12. Use baking paper when baking. It is excellent it keeps the pans clean and you don't have to add any oil to keep it the food from sticking.
  13. Prepare you own "frozen dinners", cook extra food and then freeze the food in single or double portions. Freeze them in the frezeer and take them out and microwave them the same as you would "frozen dinners". It will same you alot in your food bills.
  14. Prepare food in muli-usable cookware. Use pans that you can just put on the table from the oven.
